Port Blair, July 21: On illegal parking issue, the Dy. S. P Traffic Mr. M Umar today told Andaman Sheekha that Traffic Police has imposed challan a lot of times and has also educated the public through announcements at various areas like Babu Lane, Round Basti, Aberdeen Bazaar, Supply Line etc. but as the parking place (opposite to SAI Hostel) is at an isolated place people do not park their vehicles there.
“Traffic police department with State Transport Authority will start an area wise survey soon to find out the ratio of commercial vehicles in every area as commercial vehicles are supposed to park their vehicles where they have got the permit. The State Transport Authority will give a 15 day notice to the commercial vehicles owners, who park their vehicles at roadside, and if the owner fails to do so, the STA will cancel their permit,” the Dy. S. P added when Andaman Sheekha contacted him on this issue.
Traffic department had already carried out a survey in this regard and now will jointly conduct the survey with STA, as the challan for obstructive parking is limited to Rs 100 only therefore for punishment enhancement like permit cancellation, the traffic department with STA will jointly start an area wise survey soon.
