Port Blair, Aug. 2: During a Special drive the District Special Police Team and Chatham Police has arrested twenty gamblers from gambling dens of Haddo Wharf Parking Shed, Garacharma Near Murdha Khadi and Rajaji Nagar, Garacharma during this week and seized Rs.100670/- gambling money from them.
On receipt of credible information on 26th July, the PS Chatham Police Team comprising of SI Mohd.Rafique, I/c PS Chatham and police party raided a gambling den at Haddo Wharf Parking Shed and arrested six persons namely (1) T. Thirupathi Rao S/o Late T. Appana (40)yrs R/o Haddo (2) K. Suri Babu S/o Late T. Appana (40)yrs R/o Haddo (3) Y. Arjun Rao S/o Shri Sathya Narayan (39)yrs R/o Haddo (4) V. Govind Rao S/o Late V. Ramanamurthy R/o Haddo (5) Peer Mohd. S/o late Mohd.Hanif (48)yrs R/o Anarkali and (6)TobylosLakra S/o late Anjulouslakra (39)yrs R/o Bambooflat and seized Rs 3100/- board money alongwith 52 Nos. playing cards from the spot and cash Rs 710/- was seized from their personal search.
In another raid at GaracharmaMurdhaKhadi on 26th July, a Team comprising of Inspr. Hari Narayan, SHO Pahargaon along with staff raided a gambling den at Garacharma near MurdhaKhadi and arrested five persons namely (1) Shiv Shankar S/o Shri NandKishor Das (28)yrs R/o Murdhakhadi, Garacharma (2) SamiranPatra S/o Late MahadevPatra (21)yrs R/o MurdhaKhadi, Garacharma (3) PrashantoMondal S/o Shri. BabuMondal (25)yrs R/o Garacharma (4) Samol Bose S/o Late Pulin Ghosh(34)yrs and (5) Abdul Majeed S/o Shri Siraj Ali (30)yrs R/o Telerabad and Rs 4800/- board money alongwith 52 Nos. playing cards were seized from the spot and cash Rs 1300/- seized from their personal search.
Later on 27th July District Special Team comprising of ASI M.A. Rasheed and Police team under the supervision of DySP (SA) Shri.Mohd. Aslam, raided a gambling den at Rajaji Nagar, Garacharma and arrested nine persons namely (1)S. Udayan S/o late S. Sedhu (37)yrs R/o Haddo (2) Vardha Raj S/o Shri M. Perumal (45)yrs R/o New Pahargaon (3) Parma Sivam S/o late Naga Swamy (42)yrs R/o Dairy Farm (4) A. murugesan S/o P. Alagu (43)yrs R/o Garacharma (5) Raman Raja S/o V. Naman (37)yrs R/o RGT Road (6) Krishna Lall S/o Shri Jagat Pal (35)yrs R/o Teralabad (7) K. Naidu S/o Shri K. Sathya Narayan (32)yrs R/o Calicut (8) Ajay Kumar S/o Natrajan (30)yrs R/o Dolly Gunj and (9) D. Subramani S/o D. Mani (40)yrs R/o BathuBasti. A sum of Rs60,000/- board money and 52 playing cards were seized from the spot and Rs30,760/- seized from their personal search. The gamblers have been booked under the A&N Gambling Regulation.
