Port Blair, Nov. 27: Ensuring zero tolerance against serious offences, on 26th Nov. 2015 the South Andaman District Special Team headed by SDPO/SA on reliable source of information apprehended three passengers at Phoenix Bay jetty namely Smti Rojina Khatoon (28 yrs), her husband Tapas Mondal (24 yrs) R/o Pahargaon and Paran Das (37 yrs) R/o Neil Island who were proceeding by ferry boat from whose possession, 2.100 kgs of illicit ganja was recovered.  During interrogation, Paran Das disclosed the name of Barun Mazumder R/o Dollygunj from whom he had purchased the articles for further sale. Upon this, the team raided the residence of Barun Mazumder (33 yrs) at Dollygunj and recovered 1.095 kgs of illicit ganja from his possession. A case under Section 20(b)(ii)(B) of NDPS Act 1985 has been registered against them at PS Aberdeen and all the four arrested accused persons will be produced in the Hon’ble Court at Port Blair. Further investigation of the case continues.  This operation comes in the wake of strict enforcement by A&N Police in keeping a strict check over sale, storage and possession of narcotropic substances.
