Port Blair, May 21: For the first time ever in the history of Andaman & Nicobar Police, the Police Training School, Prothrapur imparted a 2 month Lower School Course training to 87 Head Constables including 9 lady personnel. It comes as a great achievement for the A&N Police since such training / promotional courses were restricted to mainland training institutes.

An important benefit in imparting training here is that the trainees were trained as per the requirement of working criteria, police procedure and local laws of these islands. Since the requirement of such training have been felt since a long time, the PTS commenced the course from the 1st Batch of Lower School Course so that the personnel are trained as per the requirement and situation of the islands.

During the training, subjects like IPC, CrPC, Minor Acts, Police Practical, Behavioural Science, Police Science and  a new subject “Know our UT” was also included to provide important information about Andaman & Nicobar Islands to the trainees. Apart from this, the trainees were divided into different groups to present power point presentation on various subjects in order to improve their working skills and inculcate a helping nature.

The passing out prade of the 87 Head Constables was celebrated with vigor and enthusiasm on 20th May 2015 at the Parade Ground, Police Lines with an impressing display of parade. On the occasion, Shri N.S. Bundela, IPS, Dy. Inspector General of Police, A&N Islands took the salute and later addressed the gathering. The chief guest appreciated the trainees for having enthusiastically and dedicatedly undergone the training. Senior officers and other ranks of A&N Police were also present.
