Port Blair, Based on information received over the telephone at PS Pahargaon, the police team headed by Insp. Hari Narayan, SHO PS Pahargaon, rushed to Old Bimblitan, Teylerabad and  from the statement of one Mr. Ramachandran, Panchayat member of Ward-3 R/o Teylerabad, recorded at the spot revealed that on 03/05/15 at about 1700 hrs while he was at his shop at Teylerabad, he was informed by a person namely Mr. Srinivasan R/o Teylerabad that the wife of Vinod Murmu was lying in an unconscious state in her house. He, along with other villagers including Vinod Murmu, went to the house of Vinod Murmu and found that the front door was closed. He pushed the door and opened it and noticed that the wife of Vinod Murmu was lying motionless in a pool of blood oozing from her head injuries. He suspected that some unkown person had killed her.  Upon this a case vide crime No. 87/15 dt. 03/05/14 U/s 302 IPC was registered at this PS against an unknown person and investigation was carried out under the supervision of Mr. B. Saigal, SDPO (South Andaman). SP(D)SA also visited the spot.

The husband of the deceased, Vinod Murmu, was the prime suspect and he was put under sustained interrogation. He disclosed that there were frequent quarrels taking place between him and the deceased Mrs. Chandi Devi. The day her death occurred, on the issue of refusal of the deceased to serve food to him and in view of other petty issues, he had beaten her in the morning. In the evening also,  some quarrel took place between them over the issue of the birthday of his daughter and the accused got angry and severely beat her with the intention to kill her and pushed her on to the wall of the house, due to which the deceased sustained severe head injuries and soon succumbed to her injuries.

The accused Vinod Murmu, husband of the deceased, has been arrested and will be produced in the Court of CJM for remand.
