Port Blair, Feb 06: The South Andaman Police have undertaken an intensive cleanliness drive under “Swachha Baharat Abhiyan” in South Andaman District in the police stations, units, police colonies and offices in which all police personnel and residents of police colonies have participated. The family members of police personnel residing in police colonies voluntarily participated to clean their colonies and made the environment more hygienic and green.

Meanwhile, police is not only educating but also taking legal action against the defaulters of Swachha Bharat for littering garbage in other than the designated places. During this week a total of Nine persons in South Andaman sub division have been prosecuted namely (1).Smasher Singh (29) yrs. R/o Dollygunj, (2).D.D. Ram (45) yrs. R/o Dollygunj, (3).Sanjay Sen Gupta (33) yrs. R/o Dollygunj, (4).Mohd. Ismail (26) yrs. R/o Pema Jn. Calicut, (5). Devanand (49) yrs. Shopkeeper, Haddo, (6).Kubison Hansde (23) yrs. Manager Saptagiri Chicken Centre R/o Haddo, (7). S.P. Paul, Manager ANIIDCO wine shop Delanipur R/o Lamba Line. (8). M. Raja (38) yrs. vegetable vendor R/o Panipath Road and (9).K. Boominathan (43) yrs. R/o Delanipur.

The general public are hereby again requested not to litter garbage/urinate other than designated places. The defaulters shall be prosecuted more vigorously by police.
