Port Blair, Sept. 9: A meeting was held by A&N Police with all the Bar owners of Port Blair area on 07/09/15 by Shri. Shibesh Singh, IPS, SP/SA and Shri. Atul Kumar Thakur, IPS, Superintendent of Police (CID) in the conference hall of SP(D)SA office. In the meeting, Shri. Subodh Kumar Goswami, Dy.SP (CID) and Shri. Dharmendra Kumar, General Manager (IMFL), ANIIDCO were also present.
During the meet, all the Bar owners were directed to strictly follow the guidelines in accordance with the Model Code of Conduct and not to indulge in any illegal activities such as sale of liquor in loose quantity/supplying of liquor to any candidate or person which could be used in the forthcoming Municipal/Panchayat Elections, failing which strict legal action would be initiated against the Bar owners. The Bar owners were directed not to sell liquor to minors or potential trouble makers. They were directed to display cautionary notes on consumption of liquor and its ill effects at conspicuous places in the Bar premises. They were also sensitised to install CCTV cameras in their Bars and ensure that their customers did not indulge in drunken driving.
At last they were asked to co-operate with the A&N Police in maintaining the law & order and for the smooth conduct of the forthcoming Municipal/Panchayat Elections-2015 in these Islands.
