Port Blair, Dec 03: The India Reserve Battalion, A&N Islands celebrated its 12th Raising Day at Headquarter, Port Mout on 3rd December, 2014. A ceremonial parade was held at Parade Ground, IRBn, in which Shri Pankaj Kumar Singh, IPS, Commandant, IRBn was the Chief Guest. The Commandant, IRBn inspected the parade and took salute from the parade contingents on the occasion.

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Guest lauded the services of the IRBn personnel towards the safeguard and reiterated the resolve of the India Reserve Battalion to ensure the security of the union territory, to instill sense of security among the inhabitants of the isolated areas, to prevent trans-border crimes, smuggling and unauthorized entry or exit from the territory.

Providing security to the sensitive installations, LOP guards and designated important dignitaries, with professionalism and to restore and preserve order efficiently in any area in the event of disturbance are the prime responsibilities of IRBn. It was also mentioned that in discharging these functions, each member of the force shall strive to uphold the highest standards of human dignity and professional ethics, assist in disaster management, preserve & restore flora and fauna in territory.

He said that all members of IRBn should achieve greater heights and bring laurels and increase public confidence in this battalion by providing better services’ delivery to the society.
