Port Blair, Sept. 7: The Director General of Police, Shri Rajesh Malik, IPS, interacted with the Tour Operators of A&N Islands at Police Head Quarters, Atlanta Point on 31.08.2015. The delegation of Tour Operators of A&N Islands enumerated on the various issues related to tourism and the desire of tour operators to takeover pre-paid taxi services at Air Port which is presently being operated by Police. Shri N.S. Bundela, DIGP, Shri Atul Kumar Thakur, SP(CID), Shri Pankaj Kumar Singh, SP(HQ) and Shri M. Umar, DySP(Traffic) were also present. The DGP welcomed their suggestions and asked them to display their fares and services on an electronic board at various tourist spots throughout A&N Islands. Various tourist related issues were discussed and strategies to improve tourism & for providing a safe and secure environment to the tourists was also discussed at length.

The Director General of Police stated that safety & security of tourists was of paramount importance. The DGP further called for regular interaction with the stake holders by organizing regular meetings. He also assured of all possible assistance to the Tour Operators for creating a safe environment for the tourists visiting these Islands and also stated that the suggestions/views put forth by the tour operators will be taken up for consideration and implementation.
