Campbell Bay, May 18: On 15th May 2015, on a credible information regarding distillation of illicit/ spurious liquor behind the Permanent Shelter No. 2 (B), RPRS Colony, SI Girish Kumar along with, SI AK Biswas, SI Benedict, HC Anil, PC Anand, PC Hamza, PC Mustaq, PC Vishnu Kumar Reddy, LPC Hannah, LHG Anastasia raided the location and found a person distilling illicit liquor and collecting it in an aluminium container.

The aluminium container contained around 3 liters of illicit liquor. The team also found a gas cylinder, gas stove, apparatus for distillation, 12 Nos. 750 ml bottles containing illicit liquor and 40 liters of fermented wash in a plastic drum. The person disclosed his name as Anabalagam @ Anbu Selvam R/o Permanent Shelter No. 3 (B), RPRS Colony, Campbell Bay.

The person could not produce any licence/ permit for distillation of illicit liquor and was arrested for committing offence u/s 32 Reg. III of 1876. As per the records, the accused is found to be a habitual bootlegger.
