Port Blair, Aug. 27: A&N Police has been organizing a number of awareness programmes involving school children parents and teachers all over Andaman & Nicobar Islands on various issues.

On 27.08.2015 awareness programme was held in the hall of Kendriya Vidyalaya-I as a part of community policing initiative of Andaman & Nicobar Police.

The main objective of the programme was to create awareness among the school children and teachers about measures to taken to curb the menace of drugs and to inculcate the understanding of traffic rules and regulations.

Shri Atul Kumar Thakur, IPS, SP (CID/South Andaman District) addressed the gathering and explained in detail about the ill effects of drugs and also about followance of traffic regulations and the steps being taken by police for the safety and security of the children of these Islands and appealed to the teachers to educate the students so that they do not become victims of drug abuse & accidents. Pamphlets and photos were distributed among the students and teachers.

On this occasion, Smti C. Raji, Principal KV-I and teachers also attended the meet.

Similar awareness programmes will also be conducted in other schools to educate and inform the stake holders of the issues relating to children.

The Principal appreciated the positive steps taken by the A&N Police to sensitize the school children and teachers.
