Port Blair, Sept. 7: In continuation of the awareness campaign by A & N Police, Shri. Subodh Kumar Goswami, Dy.SP(CID) conducted an interaction programme with the teachers and secondary & senior secondary class students on women/girl child related offences, Drug abuse, traffic offences & cyber crime at G.M.S.S school, Mayabunder on 03/09/15. Further, it was explained that miscreants were misusing internet facilities so as to create fake facebook accounts and were uploading obscene photos & videos to defame others. Also messages perpetuating hatred were being circulated on social networks like Whatsapp and it was stated that in such criminal offences, legal action will also be initiated. All were advised to be more careful in dealing with social networking sites/applications and to never upload obscene photos and videos on social networking sites. During the interaction, students were encouraged to come forward and provide information about any kind of drug/alcohol abuse noticed among the school students etc. Further, all the students were requested to focus on their studies and keep away from drugs and other psychotropic substances. All the students were assured in police department’s endeavour in taking appropriate action to curb substance abuse, cyber crime & women/girl child related offences.
